Used Auto Finance Terms

Total purchase price (before tax): What your auto purchase plus any additional options and destination charges will cost you (the sales tax is not included).
Monthly payment: The payments for the auto financing occurring every month.
Term in months: How long your auto loan will last (in months).
Interest rate: The interest rate for your auto financing.
Cash down: The total sum you intend to put down for your car purchase. Larger cash down means smaller auto loan.
Non-taxable fees (optional): Any additional fees needed for the auto finance, for which no sales tax is imposed.
Taxable fees (optional): Any additional fees needed for the car finance, for which sales tax is imposed.
Sales tax rate: The sales tax rate imposed when buying the auto, expressed in percentages.
Trade allowance: The exact sum taken off the auto sale price in exchange for any vehicle being traded in as part of the deal. There may be sales tax deductions for trade-ins depending on your state.
Amount owed on trade: Total auto loan balance that is due on the trade-in.
No sales tax deduction for trade-in: Leave this box unchecked if your state allows deductions for trade-ins and calculates the sales tax on your full auto purchase price less the trade in.
